SA Heart Kids Support Official

Join our dedicated support network for those touched by CoHD via the ‘HeartKids Support Official’ Facebook Group. Embrace a space where your experiences, challenges, and triumphs are met with kindness and understanding from other parents and carers just like you.

Better Tomorrows
As parents, we understand the importance of a strong start in life. Especially for children aged 2-4 with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD), our program provides tailored weekly therapeutic group sessions, led by our Occupational Therapist, Sarah.
  • Through fun and engaging play experiences, we focus on foundational skills crucial during preschool years. Developmental delays in children with CHD might be subtle and become evident in school. Our program addresses these concerns early, ensuring a smoother transition to formal learning.
Parents, you’re not alone! Join a supportive community, share experiences, and learn new ways to support your child’s development. Sarah will conduct developmental assessments, monitor progress, and guide you with referrals to additional supports.

Better Beginnings
We are excited to announce the launch of Better Beginnings! This program is designed to support Heart families with children aged 0-2 years through early intervention initiatives.
Better Beginnings aims to enhance your understanding of your child’s development by providing enjoyable and practical play ideas, as well as strategies to engage with your child effectively for their future development. Each participating family will receive a developmental assessment to gain insights into their child’s development and identify any early concerns.
The first session will take place online and will be facilitated by Sarah, our Occupational Therapist who will introduce the program. Following this, monthly online sessions will be conducted, supplemented by in-person or local support sessions between online meetings with our Support Coordinators. Rest assured, all online sessions will be recorded, allowing flexibility for families whose schedules may not align with the live sessions.
