Join HeartKids as a Fundraising & Events Volunteer in our Sydney office and gain hands-on experience in event coordination, fundraising campaigns, and research while contributing to a cause that changes lives. This role is ideal for individuals studying communications, marketing, event management, fundraising, or anyone passionate about working in the not-for-profit sector.

What We’re Looking For

• Reliability & Commitment– We need volunteers who can be depended on to show up and contribute meaningfully.
• Excellent Communication Skills – A confident phone manner and the ability to engage with people professionally.
• Organisational Skills & Attention to Detail – Keeping track of tasks and ensuring accuracy in your work.
• Tech-Savvy & Creative – Familiarity with Microsoft programs and Canva is a plus!
• Research Skills – Ability to gather quotes, analyse information, and identify opportunities for fundraising growth.

HeartBeads hold a special place in the hearts of families navigating the journey of Childhood Onset Heart Disease. Each bead represents a milestone—surgeries, treatments, and check-ups—that together form a powerful narrative of courage, resilience, and hope. For many families, these beads become a cherished record of their child’s unique and profound journey. 

As a HeartBeads Ordering and Distribution Volunteer, you play an essential role in ensuring this meaningful program continues uninterrupted. Based at the NSW HeartKids Office in Parramatta, you will oversee the national ordering and distribution of HeartBeads, making sure all states have the full range of beads required. This involves regular stock checks and timely reordering to ensure we’re always prepared to meet the needs of families across the country. 

This role offers flexibility in scheduling but requires in-office attendance for regular stocktakes and order management. On average, it requires a commitment of one to two days per month. 

Your contribution helps us preserve the emotional connection families have to HeartBeads, allowing them to honour them and reflect on their child’s journey with love and pride. 

Liaise on a regular basis with our NSW ordering and distribution volunteer to ensure you have a maintained volume of HeartBeads for your state community. Place your order through our NSW office then once received post out to families in need state or restock our hospital teams and clinics. 

As a HeartBeads State volunteer you play and essential role in ensuring the continuation of this vital program without interruption. As this involves regular stocktakes you will be required to be in the office however the role is expected to take ½ -one day per month ongoing with flexibility on the day. 

The Fundraising Support Volunteer will assist with HeartKids’ key fundraising campaigns and provide essential support to our donor engagement efforts. You’ll engage with donors and fundraisers via phone and contribute to strategies for retaining and acquiring supporters. 

This role is perfect for a person who is looking for personal fulfilment and has a passion for helping others.

• Confident Communicators: You feel comfortable talking to a variety of people over the phone and have a friendly, professional phone manner. 

• Organized and Detail-Oriented: You thrive on staying organised and ensuring every detail is handled with care. 

• Tech-Savvy: You’re familiar with Microsoft Office programs and can quickly learn new systems.
